The winners of the Tanzania Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies awards for year 2015/16 were finally revealed during the prestigious corporate event which took place last Friday at the Mlimani City Conference hall.
The Top 5 awards were scooped by Softnet Technologies Ltd, Morogoro Plastics Ltd, Kays Logistics Ltd, Abacus Pharma Ltd and Techno Brain Tanzania Ltd.
The Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies awards are presented to the Mid- sized companies which have successfully managed to achieve growth whilst adopting corporate governance in their business operations. The annual survey covers a broad range of factors including high level of growth in term of business turnover, profitability, operating costs, return on assets, creation of employment and compliance to business regulations including payment of government taxes.
These awards have created vast opportunities for the participants, and majority of the companies have gradually succeeded in growing their market share through public awareness of their products and services.
In addition to the benefits enjoyed by the participants over the last five years since inception of the awards, the Mid- Sized Companies in Tanzania have also contributed significantly in growing the economy through creation of employment and improving the living standards of millions of Tanzanians.
Speaking on behalf of the Lead Sponsor- Bank M, the Deputy CEO Ms. Jacqueline Woiso expressed the Bank’s satisfaction on the partnership, “ Mid Sized companies should take a proactive approach to assess their performance among their peers inorder to know their market standing and strategise on further growth of their business”.
Partner of KPMG Tanzania , Mr Ketan Shah stated during the event that “This survey is conducted with a team which is highly skilled in Business Research and our contribution in this undertaking is to promote a fair playground in the market place”, he concluded.
Commenting on the theme, the MCL Managing Director, Francis Nanai, said the companies competing in this survey will enable the East African business community to expand their market space, and pave way for cross border business opportunities in the East African region.
The Top 100 Mid Sized Companies awards is a brainchild of KPMG and The Citizen and the survey was open for covers all Tanzanian companies operating on an annual turnover ranging between 1 billion and 20 billion Tanzanian shillings. A similar survey is also organised by KPMG and The Citizen in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.
The survey was also sponsored by Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), Azam Media and Kuza Biashara.
